作为皇家马德里名宿，卡纳瓦罗将于20日在中国香港大球场参加一场皇马和巴萨退役球星的表演赛。
在发布会上，卡纳瓦罗接受了新华社记者采访：我和（中国）球员之间的关系非常好，我从他们身上学到了很多东西，他们帮助我提升，使我成为一名更好的教练和更好的人。我仍然与许多球员保持着联系。
记者问他是否仍然关注中国足球，卡纳瓦罗说：“当然了。”
对于现在中国男足中印象最深刻的球员，他提到了当年在广州恒大队（后更名为广州队）执教过的韦世豪。
“韦（世豪）是一名很特别的球员，他在面对压力时能发挥出更好的水平。他需要进更多的球，因为有时候他会专注于其他事情，但我认为他仍然是中国最好的球员之一。”卡纳瓦罗说。
卡纳瓦罗认为自己当时在一个非常好的时机到中国执教。对于中国足球过去几年经历的波折，他感到遗憾。但他表示很高兴看到中国足球正在回到正轨，并相信中国足球有光明的未来，“因为我知道球迷的热情依旧”。
